Hollywood stars dominate the show

Hollywood stars dominate the poker show; one of them in particular is Ben Affleck. At the end of August this year, Affleck won a charity poker tournament. This tournament was sponsored by the poker industry’s lobbying group. Before Affleck came to play, he made a promise and made good on it. He was quite convinced to win the tournament, that’s what the Poker Players Alliance director, John Pappas, said. Well, he was right and Affleck won this 6 hour tournament.

The Poker Players Alliance sponsored this tournament which was held in at the Club Level section of Coors Field. This PPA is a new lobbying outfit that works with the motto: “Poker is not a crime: Join the fight”, it protects the right to play poker.
Ben Affleck played with other big Hollywood stars like Richard Dreyfuss, Montel Williams, Seth Meyers, but also with poker stars like Andy Bloch.

Andy Bloch won the second place in the 2005 WSOP, taking with him $ 1 million.
The whole tournament raised about $ 60, 000 and all the money went for charity, for the Paralyzed Veterans of America. The PPA won also the blessing of the congressional ethics committees.

At this tournament the individual buy-in was $ 500. A week later another tournament was held, but this time at the Republican National Convention in Minnesota and the buy-in per person was $ 1000, but still members of Congress and their staff could play for free.
