The Ante Up For Africa has taken place on July the 2nd this year in the Brasilia Room at Rio Convention Center, as part of the WSOP. This big event was hosted by the funder and actor Don Cheadle and the poker pro Annie Duke. Professional players played on that event, but also many celebrities. All of them just wanted to help and raise some money for Darfur in Africa.

The number of the players, who signed up, was 88. Among the participantsthere were famous names such as Ben Affleck, Adam Sandler, Matt Damon, Jason Kidd, Kevin Pollack, Chris Ferguson, Andy Bloch and many more.

Now the name of this year’s winner has been released. It was Johnny “world” Hennigan. He won $ 136, 860.

All the winnings go to the Not On Our Watch (NOOW) project, it’s a group which was founded by Don Cheadle, George Clooney, Matt Damon and Brad Pitt. The group has as the aim to focus attention on stopping atrocities committed worldwide. The group’s inaugural campaign was the Darfur crisis and it remains a focus of NOOW efforts.
