Trade Meetings with EU postponed

The United States announced that the trade meetings with the EU, concerning Online Gambling, are postponed. At these meetings also the US administration will be discussed, because according to the EU it is in violation of World Trade Organization.

Originally the meetings should have taken place in August, but now they were put on hold by officials of the US Trade Representative’s office. The same federal agency sent a curt refutation to an EU inquiry that had to verify the exact reasons for the US’s stance against international online gambling and the UIGEA.

The US Trade Representative (USTR) is just one of the government agencies that were contacted about online gambling. The USTR’s recent talks with Antigua &Barbuda, the online-gambling haven, ended in an impasse. The agency still hasn’t responded to Congressional calls about the agreements made with the EU, Canada and other countries related to the WTO battle with Antigua.
