Nevada is reporting a decline in the gaming incomes for the 3rd months in a row. The Nevada casinos won 2% more from gamblers last year, while Las Vegas has a 5 % loss this year. The real problem is the slot machines. Historically the slots are responsible for 60 % of the state’s gaming income, but lately there’s a decline. It’s seems that it’s always getting worse, an 8% decline, it’s the worst drop in years.
Gamblers bet about a billion less on slot machines than last year. It’s really a bad news that in March there’s this big decline, because normally March a high volume month for slots. That because it’s a period after holidays and big events such as the Chinese New Year and Super Bowl and also the fact that in March the weather is getting better.
The state of Nevada was blaming for this the economy, but the truth is that there will always be gamblers, no matter what the economy is doing. Many consumers already decided to save more money and so to spend more on gambling, but the casinos didn’t expect that. Casinos are a kind of entertainment like going to movies for example, but nevertheless the consumers just prefer to spend their time and money elsewhere maybe.
