Large decline in visitor traffic

Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority reported lately that there has been a large decline in visitor traffic in Las Vegas. The main reason seems to be the Iraq war which began in March 2003 and it’s since then that the visitor traffic began to decrease.

The visitor traffic decrease 5 % from last year. The worst month is July, when there’s the largest decline. It’s a month where already the room rates are low, but this year the prizes has been lowered even more, because just a few visitors came to the world’s greatest city of gambling. Normally during the weekends the occupancy rates are about 91% and during the midweek about 86 %, but in July this percentage fell of 5%. The McCarran International Airport less passenger than expected, about 9%.

The Gaming Control Board released the dismal gaming incomes. Though now the gas is cheaper again, it’s unclear whether the visitor traffic will increase again or not.
